Yellow Jackets’ remarks give Buffaloes bulletin board motivation ahead of first-ever clash

When Colorado and Georgia Tech meet in Boulder to open the 2025 season, the attention will be sky-high. It’s the first-ever meeting between the two programs, and Folsom Field is already expected to be a sellout. But what Georgia Tech safety LaMiles Brooks Powell-Lee said in the lead-up could end up giving Colorado exactly the kind of extra motivation Deion Sanders thrives on.

Powell-Lee brushed aside the hype around Colorado, saying the Buffaloes’ star-studded atmosphere won’t shake him or his teammates.

“Like, it’s another game,” Powell-Lee said when asked about the buildup. For Colorado, that phrase could be fuel. Under Sanders, the Buffaloes have embraced the idea that their games are bigger, and bolder.

Powell-Lee added: “I know they bring out celebrities, they do all this crazy stuff, but we’re playing football.” Sanders has made Folsom Field a magnet for names like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Lil Wayne, Kevin Durant, and Rob Gronkowski. To Colorado, that outside energy is part of their identity, not a distraction.

Despite a 9-4 finish last year, Colorado enters the opener as a four-point underdog, per DraftKings Sportsbook. Sanders is 2-0 in season openers at CU and knows how to spin doubt into drive.

This matchup isn’t just about X’s and O’s, it’s about pride, and who controls the narrative. Georgia Tech may see it as “just another game.” For Colorado, it’s much more.

And if history tells us anything, bulletin board material has a way of turning Sanders’ teams into must-watch theater.
