Georgia Tech meets desperate Boston College while eyeing ACC title game image

No. 16 Georgia Tech begins a critical three-game stretch Saturday when it visits struggling Boston College, who is the ACC’s lone winless team in conference play.

The Yellow Jackets (8-1) remain firmly in control of their path to the ACC Championship Game despite a 48-36 loss to NC State before last week’s bye. A win at Boston College would keep their postseason goals intact ahead of showdowns with Pittsburgh and rival No. 5 Georgia.

Georgia Tech enters as one of the nation’s most balanced offenses, averaging 482.1 yards per game, including 221 on the ground.

Jackets quarterback Haynes King continues to pace the unit with 1,888 passing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. They also thrive on efficiency, ranking sixth nationally in red-zone offense and 12th in third-down conversions.

Boston College (1-9) has dropped nine straight since its season-opening win and has struggled on both sides of the ball. The Eagles allow 431.7 yards per game and rank near the bottom nationally in third-down defense, turnover margin and red-zone stops.

Offensively, freshman quarterback Dylan Lonergan has shown flashes, throwing for 1,655 yards with a 66.9% completion rate, while Turbo Richard and Lewis Bond have been steady contributors.

BC showed fight in recent losses to Notre Dame and SMU, but Georgia Tech’s depth and efficiency present a significant challenge.

With a CFP bid still within reach, the Yellow Jackets can’t afford a misstep in Chestnut Hill. Except Brent Key's team to come out swinging early.

Boston College hosts No. 16 Georgia Tech on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, ACC Network).
