With the early Signing Day approaching, one of the biggest storylines in recruiting just took a dramatic turn. Five-star quarterback and Houston commit Keisean Henderson is officially the new No. 1 overall recruit in the 2026 class, according to updated rankings released Wednesday by 247Sports.
Henderson was previously No. 2, climbed into the top spot after a senior season surge that impressed evaluators across the country. A converted wide receiver who has developed rapidly behind center, Henderson earned high praise from 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins, who highlighted the quarterback’s growth and dynamic play style.
“In his marquee matchups this fall, Henderson was simply the X factor as he attacked coverage and took risks that few others his age are willing to take,” Ivins wrote.
Henderson boosted his completion percentage from 59.8% as a junior to 74.5% as a senior, while improving his yards per attempt from 8.26 to 12.67. He also nearly doubled his touchdown-to-interception ratio, jumping from 23:6 to 45:6, all in the same number of games.
The rise pushes Georgia commit Jared Curtis down to No. 3. Henderson is the nation’s top quarterback and overall prospect. If he sticks with his pledge to Willie Fritz and Houston, Henderson will become the highest-ranked recruit in program history. For now, he'll be focused on closing out strong and making an impact before heading to H-town.
