DJ Lagway appeared to be taking his talents to Baylor. The Florida transfer QB, by all indications earlier this week, was joining the Bears in the Big 12.
And, well, now that might be changing, based on the latest reporting from ESPN's Pete Thamel.
This is what Thamel posted on X on Friday evening:
"Former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway is planning to continue to take visits before officially committing. He had a positive visit to Baylor earlier this week. One program that has consistently expressed interest is Ole Miss."
Ole Miss would enter the equation in part because QB Trinidad Chambliss may not be granted another year of eligibility, although that situation still has to go through a further appeals process.
Lagway is an uber-talented quarterback who wowed at the end of the 2024 season, his true freshman campaign with the Gators, before not really following up on that in a major way in 2025 as a sophomore.
With Florida changing coaches, Lagway left town and entered the portal as one of the more tantalizing options available.
He certainly appeared to be a major get for Baylor, but all of a sudden, everything is sort of hanging in the balance.
If Lagway chose to go elsewhere, it'd be rough timing for Baylor, which will have missed out on many of the other transfer QB commitments that have already been made.
It continues to be a fascinating new world in the transfer portal, and the Bears are the latest to have to deal with the potential consequences of that.
