Miami (Ohio) starting quarterback Dequan Finn is reportedly leaving school to focus on training for the NFL Draft, according to a report by ESPN.
The seventh-year signal-caller has amassed 8,828 career passing yards with three teams, including a five-year stint at Toledo. Finn played 45 games for the Rockets, earning MAC MVP honors in 2023 and leaving for Baylor with 7,074 passing yards and 63 touchdowns and 1,840 rushing yards and 25 scores.
Redhawks coach Chuck Martin announced Finn's departure on Friday, telling reporters that the team appreciated the quarterback's time with the program. The final stop of his career before turning pro. "We will not see him the rest of the year," Martin confirmed.
Finn had 1,451 passing yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions this season and 395 rushing yards and four scores. The Redhawks (5-5) have two games to secure postseason eligibility.
"Dequan did some awesome things. He's an awesome young man. We spent a lot of time together," Martin added. "He's got a shot to play at the next level. He's going to train and get ready to go do that."
Henry Hesson will replace Finn under center. He has thrown for 635 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions in four seasons at Miami. He went 11-of-38 passing for 147 yards with three interceptions in Wednesday's loss to Toledo.
Miami visits Buffalo next Wednesday night (7 p.m. ET, ESPN2).
