College football week 2 weather delays: Clemson vs. Troy and other games suspended due to lightning image

While week 2 of college football wasn’t as loaded as week 1, there was still plenty of action across the country. Unfortunately, several games on Saturday afternoon were delayed due to lightning.

No. 8 Clemson trailed Troy 7-0 early in the first quarter when their game was suspended due to lightning. Georgia’s home game against Austin Peay was also delayed, and UAB’s road matchup at Navy was affected as well.

Here’s a rundown of Saturday’s games that were affected by weather.

Clemson trails Troy 7-0

The Tigers were looking to rebound after a home road loss against LSU in Week 1. Unfortunately, Clemson gave up a touchdown on Troy's opening possession. Clemson was able to run just three plays on its ensuing possession before the game was suspended due to lightning in the area:

It looked like it may be awhile before the game could resume, too:

Fans could be seen seeking shelter inside Memorial Stadium:

Luckily for Clemson, play resumed around 5:30 p.m. Unfortunately for the Tigers, Clemson's Adam Randall fumbled on the resuming possession, which gave the ball right back to Troy.

And Clemson now trails Troy, and the home fans are letting Dabo Swinney and the Tigers know how they feel:

Yikes!

Austin Peay-Georgia delayed

Georgia's Week 2 game against Austin Peay was even moved up preemptively in anticipation of the weather. It initially was scheduled to be a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff, but both teams agreed to start an hour earlier at 2:30.

Unfortunately that didn't help much, as the game went into a weather delay at halftime:

The radar around the Athens area doesn't look too great, either:

Georgia is expected to resume at 6:02 p.m. this evening.

UAB-Navy delayed

UAB was playing on the road against Navy, and that one also got delayed in the second quarter.

UAB trailed Navy 21-14 when the delay started.

All three of these games will need the lightning to clear before the games can be resumed. If the games cannot resume today, NCAA rules state that the game can be resumed on another day or date, or the games can be called "no-contests."

We'll see which one of these games gets resumed first.
