College football rankings: Updated NCAA Top 25 polls after Alabama loss and more Week 1 upsets image

Four of the top eight teams in the preseason AP Poll fell in Week 1 of the college football season, setting the stage for a shakeup out of Labor Day Weekend.

While it might be tough to blame No. 1 Texas and No. 6 Notre Dame for losing one-possession games on the road against fellow top-10 teams, No. 4 Clemson fell at home to No. 9 LSU while No. 8 Alabama was handily defeated by unranked Florida State as a two-touchdown favorite.

In the expanded playoff era, a Week 1 loss doesn't doom a team by any stretch of the imagination — but it does ramp up the pressure on any team that goes down, and Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Texas are already starting to feel that pressure as they prepare to slide down the Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 rankings ahead of Week 2.

Florida State, meanwhile, is poised to jump into the rankings, while Ohio State made a strong case to return to No. 1. Both No. 10 Miami and LSU are set to rise, while most of the teams outside the top 10 are unlikely to see much movement after handling business in Week 1. The only other team ranked outside the top 10 in the AP Top 25 to lose over the weekend was No. 25 Boise State.

Here's a look at the USA Today Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll ahead of Week 2.
