College football rankings: Alabama back at No. 1 in preseason Coaches Top 25 image

Alabama is No. 1 again.

The Crimson Tide opened are No. 1 in the USA Today Sports UFCA Coaches Poll, which was released on Monday. 

This marks the seventh time Alabama has started the season No. 1 in the Coaches Poll. The Crimson Tide were No. 1 in the same poll last year. Alabama finished 13-2 last season and lost 33-18 to Georgia in the College Football Playoff championship game. 

Alabama received 54 out of 66 first-place votes.

The Bulldogs are ranked No. 3 in this year's poll after winning the program's first national championship since 1980 last season. Georgia received six first-place votes. 

Ohio State, which received five first-place votes, is ranked No. 2 in the Coaches Poll. The Buckeyes enter Ryan Day's fourth season. The Buckeyes finished 11-2 last season.

Texas, which is ranked No. 18, received one first-place vote.

Clemson and Notre Dame rounded out the top five. Michigan, which made its first College Football Playoff appearance is ranked No. 6. Texas A&M, Utah, Oklahoma and Baylor round out the top 10.
