It did not start as a viral moment. It started as a simple answer.

On Saturday, Elijah Sarratt was asked what he will miss most about Bloomington. He did not pause or search for something polished. He talked about the people. The feel of the town. The quiet rhythm of daily life.

“I got my dog,” Sarratt said. “Great town, great people. That’s what I’m going to miss the most.”

Then came the follow up. What is your dog’s name?

“CC,” Sarratt said, smiling. “They may not like it. She’s named after Caitlin Clark. Indiana fans may not like it. She’s an American Bully. That’s my daughter right there.”

The clip moved quickly once it hit Instagram. It felt genuine. It sounded like him. And it found its way to the Indiana Fever superstar.

She did not make it a production. She did not try to be clever. She simply commented.

“Hope he scores 3 tds Monday night.”

A little later, she added another line. “Big Indiana fan Monday night.”

That was enough to turn a light moment into something bigger.

Sarratt has been a major reason the Indiana Hoosiers are even here. He has been steady all season, trusted when games tightened and possessions mattered. In the Peach Bowl semifinal, he caught two touchdowns in Indiana’s win over the Oregon Ducks, once again answering the moment when the offense needed him most.

At media day, offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan explained why that keeps happening.

“You throw it in his vicinity, we have a lot of confidence he’s going to make a play,” Shanahan said. “He’s proven that time and time again.”

A dog named CC started the conversation. But the season already explained why it stuck.
