After the Minnesota Vikings discovered that Jordan Addison was going to be suspended for the first three games of the season, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O'Connell believe they need someone to fill the gap in the meantime.
Addison will be missing Minnesota's first three games, which will be against the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals, to begin the season. The reason was that the Vikings receiver violated the NFL's Substance Abuse Policy after pleading no contest to a "lesser charge," according to NFL.com's Nick Shook.
The name that Minnesota seems to be targeting is former Viking, turned Carolina Panthers receiver, Adam Thielen. The teams have shared interest in the deal, but they have run into a problem.
Vikings, Panthers 'struggling to agree on compensation' in Adam Thielen trade
On Monday night, NFL insider Adam Schefter released some interesting news on the Vikings' homecoming pursuit for Adam Thielen.
"Vikings and Panthers have tried to work out a trade for Carolina WR Adam Thielen, who would like to return to Minnesota, but the two sides continue to struggle to agree on compensation," said the reporter.
With Thielen, 35, interested in a return to Minnesota, he could rejoin the team where he spent his first nine NFL seasons after going undrafted in 2013. The veteran is also from the state, growing up in Detroit Lakes, while also attending Minnesota State from 2008 to 2012.
Nothing is set and stone yet, but it's beginning to look like Thielen will be getting traded back to the Minnesota Vikings at any moment.
