Michigan’s coaching search has turned towards Louisville coach Jeff Brohm emerging as a name of interest, according to On3. This comes after a few other top target have either expressed zero interest or have signed extensions with their respective schools.
Brohm is 93-56 overall as a head coach with nine bowl appearances in 12 seasons. He previously guided Purdue to a Big Ten Championship Game and this season led Louisville to a signature win over then-No. 10 Miami. His reputation for quarterback development has also drawn attention as former No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood mulls over Michigan’s next hire, and whether he'll recommit for 2026
Louisville plays Boca Raton Bowl on Tuesday against Toledo. Brohm was previously mentioned in Penn State’s coaching search before opting to stay, and he has yet to sign a contract extension Louisville has been pursuing since the fall.
Michigan fired Sherrone Moore for cause, with the transfer portal opening in a little over a week. Michigan wants a new coach in place by this week. Other names discussed include Kyle Whittingham, Jesse Minter and interim coach Biff Poggi.
Whether Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel finalizes a hire by New Year’s Eve or not remains to be seen. The same day Michigan faces Texas in the Citrus Bowl.
