Michigan Wolverines interim head coach Biff Poggi had quite the exchange with former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban ahead of the Week 4 clash in Nebraska. Poggi joined the College GameDay show, where he first recalled a failed Ferrari deal involving Saban before the conversation shifted to coaching.
After losing the Ferrari conversation to Poggi, Saban took a dig at Michigan's coach for his time with Saint Frances Academy. Saban wanted to know why, despite being the "Jerry Jones" of the program, he never took the sidelines to coach a football play. The Dallas Cowboys owner reference is because Jones is not only the owner but basically runs all operations of America's Team.
"I got to ask you, when you were at St. Francis, I never saw you coach a down," Saban said. "You were the owner. You were Jerry Jones. You paid the players and all that. You did the payroll. Are you using the same philosophy at Michigan now?"
Poggi wasn’t about to let the legendary Alabama coach have the last word. He fired back with a perfectly timed quip:
"Yeah, and I learned all that from you. So, you know. Oh, that’s amazing. That’s fantastic."
“You lost a friend and a customer.” 😭

Biff Poggi's 'Jerry Jones' type time with Saint Frances Academy
After a successful stint at the Gilman School, Bigg Poggi, who had prior experience working in business (hedge funds), took over Saint Frances Academy' football program in 2017. The school is situated in Baltimore.
Poggi made the program a powerhouse by funding 65 scholarships out of his own pocket. His first St. Frances team went 13-0 in 2017. Many of his starters got scholarships to FBS schools like Alabama, Duke, Maryland, Mississippi State, West Virginia, etc.
After the 2020 season, he left the school take a coaching position at Michigan under former head coach Jim Harbaugh.
