Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland exited Sunday's matchup with the Dallas Cowboys late in the first half with a hip injury.

Despite the 2025 first-round pick not returning to the game, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the injury isn't serious, and the former Michigan man could be on track to play as soon as next week.

"Bears TE Colston Loveland’s hip injury is not believed to be serious and he is expected to have a chance to play Sunday at the Raiders, per source," Schefter wrote in a post on X.

Colston Loveland Season Outlook

Despite being the first tight end off the board in this year's past draft, Loveland has not seen as much use as expected of the 10th overall pick.

Through three games, the former Michigan standout has three receptions on six targets for 43 yards. Meanwhile, Indianapolis Colts tight end and draft classmate of Loveland, Tyler Warren, has 14 catches for 193 yards.

Warren was selected four picks after Loveland.

The most likely problem is that the Bears' tight end room features a talented duo, with Loveland stuck firmly behind the incumbent Cole Kmet. The former Notre Dame product has four catches for 70 yards and a touchdown, scored yesterday, so far this season.

While Loveland's production is disappointing considering where he was selected, it's obvious Chicago has a lot of mouths to feed on offense, especially at receiver.

D.J. Moore, Rome Odunze, and Luther Burden are all competing for targets, and head coach Ben Johnson wants to utilize his talented core of wideouts.

Loveland's time will certainly come in terms of production, but in the meantime, he'll hope to heal up this week in time for the Bears' matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
