Michael Irvin causes stir after Miami's win over Texas A&M image

Michael Irvin brought his trademark energy and then some to College Station on Saturday afternoon.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Miami wide receiver caused a stir with his animated sideline behavior following Miami Hurricanes’ 10-3 win over the Texas A&M Aggies in the first round of the College Football Playoff.

Irvin was on the field as Miami celebrated its game-winning touchdown and the defensive stand that followed, when the Hurricanes sealed the victory with an interception in the end zone on Texas A&M’s final drive. The win sends Miami to a quarterfinal matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes on New Year’s Eve.

While the game itself was a defensive slog, Irvin ensured the postgame spotlight didn’t fade quietly. Videos circulating on social media showed the former Cowboys star whipping a Texas A&M jersey against a trash can with a belt while celebrating Miami’s road victory, a moment that quickly drew reactions across college football.

Texas A&M’s season ended with continued offensive struggles, as the Aggies failed to score a touchdown in the loss. Coach Mike Elko and quarterback Marcel Reed now turn their attention to the offseason after a promising year ended abruptly in the playoff opener.

Irvin’s antics came less than 24 hours after another viral moment involving the longtime television personality. During a chaotic ringside interview Friday ahead of Jake Paul’s fight with Anthony Joshua, sports host Kay Adams appeared to tell Irvin to “stop it” as his enthusiasm threatened to derail the segment.

Adams, Irvin, Brandon Marshall and comedian Bert Kreischer were guests at the event in Miami and are scheduled to reunite on Christmas Day when Netflix airs an NFL tripleheader with Irvin’s larger-than-life presence likely front and center once again.
