Malachi Toney went over the middle. Carson Beck hit him in stride.
And then Toney got crushed on what looked to be a targeting penalty.
The officials did a review and determined it wasn't targeting, though.

Toney went to the medical tent. It could be a key loss for Miami.

Toney is their do-everything true freshman star.
The Hurricanes led 3-0 with about 3:30 left in the first quarter when Toney was injured.
Toney had already caught a couple passes along with taking a Wildcat snap as a quarterback to set up a run play for the explosive frosh.

But less than two minutes on the game clock after going to the medical tent, Toney was back in.
