Did Jason Taylor go to Miami? Despite the frequent association with “The U,” the answer is no.
The sack master didn’t play college football for the Hurricanes. Taylor didn’t even begin playing football until his junior year at Woodland Hills High School in the Pittsburgh area, where landscaping work helped him develop the strength that would later define his career. He went on to play college football at Akron Zips, earning All-MAC first-team honors in 1995 and 1996.
The confusion stems from Taylor’s deep ties to South Florida as a professional. The Miami Dolphins selected him in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft, and he spent 11 seasons with the franchise across multiple stints.

Taylor became one of the NFL’s premier pass rushers in the 2000s, earning six Pro Bowl selections, four All-Pro honors, the 2006 Defensive Player of the Year award and induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
Now, Taylor is back in Coral Gables as Miami’s defensive ends coach, appearing on ESPN’s broadcast during Monday night’s national championship against Indiana.
