Carson Beck talks about belief trust and the play that changed Miami’s season image

Carson Beck didn’t wait for the moment to find him. He went and took it.

With the Fiesta Bowl hanging in the balance, Beck pulled the ball down and sprinted into the end zone in the closing seconds, delivering the winning touchdown and sending the Miami Hurricanes to the College Football Playoff National Championship. It was the finish Miami worked toward all season, even when the path rarely felt smooth.

“It was never easy. It was never perfect,” Beck said. “There were a lot of ups and downs. A lot of adversity.”

That adversity shaped the Hurricanes, particularly in moments that demanded trust. Beck never wavered in his belief in wide receiver Keelan Marion, even after an early miscue.

“Ever since then, we’ve been locked in,” Beck said. “He had an unbelievable game tonight. I’m just super proud of him.”

The defining test came late. After Miami watched its opponent answer with a tying score, Beck gathered the offense and stripped the moment down to its core.

“This is what we worked for. This is what we live for. This is why you play the game of football,” he told them. “Are we going to respond or are we not?”

Then came the part that lingered longest.

“I told them I love them,” Beck said. “Whatever happens, I still love them. I’m proud of them.”

The response followed. For Beck, the run reflects more than wins. It reflects belief.

“We really banded together and showed that we believe in connection. That we just don’t fake it,” he said. “If our team really wasn’t like that, I don’t know if this win happens tonight.”

Now Miami moves on to Hard Rock Stadium, still standing, still believing, because its quarterback never flinched.
