Carson Beck entered the 2024 college football season as one of the favorites to be the No. 1 overall pick and finished it in the transfer portal. Now in a new environment and new conference, can he rebuild his stock while fulfilling Miami's playoff expectations?
Beck didn't live up to the highest of hopes that followed him into his final year at Georgia, but he has a chance for instant redemption against a Notre Dame team that ended the Bulldogs' season in January while he sat injured on the sideline.
Winning is the goal for Beck and Miami, but a strong performance under the lights by the 23-year-old quarterback against one of the nation's toughest defenses could catapult him back onto NFL radars as his final collegiate season gets underway.
Here are the numbers to know from Beck's Miami debut against Notre Dame on Sunday.

Carson Beck stats today
Final score: Miami 27, Notre Dame 24
- Comp/Att: 20/30
- Passing yards: 205
- Touchdowns: 2
- Interceptions: 0
- Sacks: 0
Beck impressed in his first half of action in a Miami uniform, throwing for 205 yards and two touchdowns while only taking one sack and never turning the ball over.
The Hurricanes and Fighting Irish both dealt with sluggish offenses on their opening possessions, but Beck quickly settled in as he got comfortable with a brand new Miami receiving corps. Beck found true freshman Malachi Toney for a highlight-reel touchdown pass early in the second quarter, and he led a touchdown drive that culminated in a brilliant catch by CJ Daniels in the final minutes of the half.
Beck slowed down a bit in the second half, throwing for only 58 yards, but Miami focused more on the running game as it tried to bleed the clock and hold off Notre Dame. After the Fighting Irish tied the game at 24, Beck completed one of two passes on the drive that ultimately resulted in the game-winning field goal by Carter Davis.
Beck threw 12 interceptions in his final season at Georgia, but he avoided turnovers in Sunday's contest and flashed a surprise connection with the unheralded Toney against a highly-touted Notre Dame defense.
