Carson Beck reached another milestone in his collegiate career on Saturday. The Miami Hurricanes quarterback surpassed 10,000 career passing yards in a 38-10 win over Syracuse.
Beck, a Georgia transfer, is one of only two active FBS quarterbacks to hit that mark. He's also one of 162 FBS passers to reach at least 10k. His feat came on a 61-yard touchdown strike to Keelan Marion in the third quarter.
A rebound win from last week's stunning defeat at SMU with Beck completing 18-of-24 passes for 247 yards and a score. To add to his efforts, Beck also caught a touchdown pass on a trick play late in the first half, helping Miami spark a 24-point surge after a slow start.
“There was a lot of help along the way,” Beck said. “But super excited to hear that.”
The Hurricanes struggled early, punting on their first four drives before scoring on four straight possessions. Offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa added a 3-yard rushing touchdown on a backward pass, and Keionte Scott’s interception return made it 14-0 at halftime. It was smooth sailing from that point on for the Canes.
Syracuse lost its sixth straight game and gave up six sacks. Rickie Collins threw for 85 yards and a touchdown in the loss. One week after giving Bill Belichick his first ACC win at UNC.
