Lane Kiffin’s planned trip to Atlanta for ESPN’s College GameDay from the SEC Championship is off.
The new LSU head coach announced Friday evening on social media that he would remain in Baton Rouge after securing the No. 1 overall recruit Lamar Brown on the final day of the early signing period.
Kiffin could still appear on the show via remote interview Saturday, but no plans are in the works for that to happen, according to The Advocate's Wilson Alexander. For now, the on set visit has been cancelled.

LSU’s surge on the recruiting trail pulled in Brown, who delayed signing after Kiffin was announced as head coach. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Louisiana native reaffirmed his longtime commitment and officially signed with the Tigers. He's listed as an athlete who plays on both lines, but Brown is projected as an offensive lineman in college.
His signing caps a strong week for LSU, which also added five-star defensive lineman Richard Anderson and eight four-star recruits. The Tigers hold the nation’s No. 11 class entering the weekend.
Kiffin has remained active since arriving from Ole Miss, including meeting Brown shortly after landing in Baton Rouge. His “GameDay” appearance would’ve marked his second public event since being hired, following his introductory news conference.
The program had discussed Kiffin frequently amid his controversial departure from Ole Miss, with former Alabama coach Nick Saban weighing in on the timing.
