Former Miami tight end Brock Schott has found himself at the center of a uniquely modern college football storyline, transferring to Indiana at a moment that could hardly be more consequential.
Schott spent most of the 2025 season with the Hurricanes before entering the transfer portal on Jan. 2 while Miami was still alive in the College Football Playoff. Three days later, he committed to Indiana. The move became even more notable when the Hoosiers also advanced to the national championship game.
The timing is striking. Indiana will face Miami on Monday night in the CFP title game at Hard Rock Stadium, setting up a rare scenario in which a player switches sides between finalists before the season is complete. Thanks to the current transfer portal calendar this is an extreme scenario.
Schott appeared in two games for Miami this season, catching two passes for 24 yards in a 45-3 win over Bethune-Cookman. While his on-field role was limited, his familiarity with Miami’s offensive system and signals could provide Indiana with a subtle but meaningful edge. Needless to say, he'll be the real MVP in film study.

A Leo, Indiana, native, Schott was a four-star recruit and one of the nation’s top tight end prospects coming out of high school. He starred on both sides of the ball, earning IFCA Mr. Football honors at tight end and drawing national recruiting attention before choosing Miami over Indiana and Ohio State.

Now back home, Schott was Indiana’s ninth transfer addition of the cycle and its fourth on offense. His decision shows how quickly the balance of power can shift why there needs to be an overhaul in college football's entire schedule.
