Heisman voting window tightens as 2025 race begins to take shape image

The Heisman Trust has implemented a major procedural change for the 2025 season. For the first time, electors will have only 48 hours to submit their ballots, compressing the voting window into the tightest timeline in the award’s history. The shortened calendar places a premium on championship-week performances and requires voters to be more decisive than ever as they evaluate the country’s top players.

The voting portal opens on Saturday, December 6 at 5 p.m. EST, and all ballots must be submitted by Monday, December 8 at 5 p.m. EST, which also coincides with the announcement of the finalists on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown. The winner will be revealed during the nationally televised ceremony on Saturday, December 13 at 7 p.m. EST on ABC.

The compressed schedule arrives during one of the most competitive Heisman races in recent years. Several quarterbacks, running backs and receivers from across the Power Four sit at the forefront of the early conversation.
