One of the most physically impressive Georgia Bulldogs is moving on, but in a move that seems to signal a surprising return to the field.

Pearce Spurlin is entering the transfer portal.

Spurlin is a 6-foot-7 tight end who came out of high school as a 4-star recruit.

On3's Hayes Fawcett reported the transfer portal news on Tuesday, adding that Spurlin will have two seasons of eligibility left.

Spurlin played in eight games as a freshman in 2023 after being the No. 2 ranked TE in his class out of South Walton (Florida).

He was then forced to medically retire in March of 2024 due to a congenital heart condition.

It doesn't seem like his name would go into the transfer portal unless he was medically cleared to play.

In August, Spurlin had successful open-heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.

"I owe everything to the Lord for watching over me and to my incredible doctors here at the Cleveland Clinic. I would also like to thank everyone who has reached out and prayed for me," Spurlin wrote after the surgery in a post on Instagram. "To my family — I love you all so much. I am deeply grateful to have been able to get my heart fixed, knowing that there are people out there fighting the same battle who aren't able to do anything about it."

It's not clear what's next for Spurlin, but it's exciting news for the young tight end that he may get to step back onto the gridiron after all.
