As the January 2026 college football transfer window continues to surge, the spotlight remains firmly on the top talent entering the portal. With more than 4,500 players already on the move nationwide, several high-profile names have emerged as potential program-changers, especially at quarterback and the skill positions. For many teams, these transfers could define their 2026 season.

Quarterbacks once again headline the portal. Florida’s DJ Lagway is one of the biggest names available after a strong freshman season that showed flashes of star potential despite the Gators’ overall struggles. Lagway’s arm strength and athleticism make him an attractive option for programs searching for a dynamic, long-term answer under center. Another major name is Dylan Raiola from Nebraska. One of the most highly recruited quarterbacks in recent years, Raiola’s future has become one of the most talked-about storylines in the portal, with multiple programs closely monitoring his decision.

Sam Leavitt, formerly of Arizona State, is also drawing heavy interest. Considered one of the most reliable quarterbacks available, Leavitt has proven he can manage an offense and make plays consistently. Brendan Sorsby, who transferred from Cincinnati to Texas Tech, is another proven performer. His move signals Texas Tech’s aggressive approach to upgrading its offense through the portal. Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles, a former top recruit with one year of eligibility remaining, is also seeking a fresh start and could be a valuable addition for a team needing experience.

Beyond quarterbacks, several offensive playmakers are making waves in the transfer portal. Running back Caleb Hawkins, who recently moved from North Texas to Oklahoma State, has been one of the most productive players after setting FBS freshman records in touchdowns and points in 2025. Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman is expected to enter the portal soon and would immediately rank among the top receiving options available. Meanwhile, Omarion Miller’s transfer from Colorado to Arizona State adds much-needed speed and playmaking ability on the outside. Penn State tight end Benjamin Brahmer also stands out as a high-upside target at his position.

With so much talent available, here is an updated list of the top committed running backs in the portal so far.

Defensively, Louisville defensive lineman AJ Green and linebacker Robert Woodyard Jr., who transferred from Auburn to Missouri, headline a group of impact defenders. Cornerback Jontez Williams, moving from USC to Oklahoma State, adds to the Cowboys’ growing list of portal additions.

As programs like Oklahoma State and Penn State continue to make aggressive portal moves, it’s clear that the transfer portal remains one of the most powerful tools in modern college football. The decisions made in the coming weeks will reshape rosters and expectations across the country.
