Deion Sanders reveals which three NFL teams called about Shedeur during draft slide image

Deion Sanders hasn't fully shared what happened behind the scenes during the draft slide with his son, Shedeur, getting skipped over. However, he did reveal some new details on Jason and Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast.

As it turns out, the Baltimore Ravens weren’t the only team that inquired about 'Grown' on draft day.

Coach Prime broke his silence on the report by ESPN's Adam Schefter and why his son made the right decision to say no to the Ravens.

“Because this was all over the media, because I know y’all keep it buck," Sanders told the Kelce brothers. "Let me tell you something. How in the world they made a big deal out of... Philly called us on draft day. They didn’t mention that. I just let a cat out of the bag. Okay, who was it? Baltimore and the Browns. They forget, you know, I played for Baltimore, so me and Ozzie (Newsome) are cool.

“He understood that whole conversation, and he wanted to talk to Shedeur as well as he wanted to talk to me. And I put Shedeur on the phone and I don’t want to say how it went, but how in the world can somebody fault him for saying or thinking, ‘Why in the world would I go back up Lamar (Jackson) for 10 more years?’ Like, who comes in with that mindset?”

In those details, Sanders did say the defending Super Bowl champs reached out to inquire about Shedeur. But just like the situation with Jackson in Baltimore, who wants to sit behind Jalen Hurts in Philadelphia? It's the same logic that had the Buffaloes quarterback shut down Newsome's interest.

"I've never sat on the bench and said, 'Well, I've learned a lot today?'" Sanders said. "Who learns sitting on the bench? Who does that?"

Cleveland took Shedeur with the 144th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and the rest is history. Now he'll try to fight for reps in the regular season as the emergency third-string option.

Sanders has an internal prediction of when his son's "Welcome to the NFL" moment will come, but said he's not telling anyone about it.
