On the weekly Colorado Coaches Show, Deion Sanders confirmed what he said prior to his latest surgery, he’s good to go for Saturday’s matchup against No. 23 Iowa State.
“I’m a little sore today,” Sanders said. “Yeah, it’s…the second day is always much more sore than the first day because you still have some of the medication after you from the first day. So, I’m a little sore today. So, I mainly was on the cart coaching today. But, [I’m] all good.”
Still recovering but in high spirits, Sanders joked that his entrance this weekend will look a little different.
“I’m not running out. I’m just…not running out. I’m walking out this time. So don’t expect me to run,” Sanders said. “I’m going to kind of walk out. Yeah, like the old Ralphie.”
The line drew laughter from co-host Mark Johnson and the studio crew, a sign that Sanders’ trademark wit is fully intact.
He also revisited his much-talked-about “Snoop Dog sleep” comment from earlier in the week, joking about what he told his anesthesiologist, with Pacman Jones in the room, before surgery. “I said, ‘Look now, if you don’t give me the right amount of Snoop Dog, I’m sure Pacman’s got something on him right now.’”
Sanders closed the show by thanking Colorado fans for their overwhelming support, especially 100-year-old superfan Peggy Coppom.
“Great fans, great supporters, well wishes from Miss Peggy,” Sanders said. “She’s been a blessing to me since the day I arrived.”
Colorado (2–4, 0–3 Big 12) hosts No. 23 Iowa State (5–1, 2–1) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Folsom Field.
