Clemson-Syracuse gets odd weather delay update for lightning as Orange chase upset image

Syracuse is in Death Valley on Saturday afternoon trying to upset Clemson.

And the weather is trying to play a part, although the officials don't seem to mind.

At the two-minute timeout of the first half, the stadium scoreboard displayed an announcement for a lightning advisory.

But then the teams came back on the field to close out the first half.

Here's what the scoreboard said:

Looks like the lightning would have to get closer to go from an advisory to a delay.

UPDATEThe game didn't come out of halftime on time. There's a lightning delay for at least half an hour before the second half begins.

Clemson scored soon after the advisement, but there was still work to do for the Tigers.

The Orange came to town seeking an upset, and they were up 24-14 with a minute left in the first half.

Clemson will get the ball out of halftime, conceptually.

By the same token, SU is pulling out all the stops. The Orange scored on their opening possession, then went surprise onside kick and recovered to set up a field goal and a 10-0 lead.

Syracuse continued to move the ball with a good pass-run mix, and they'll hope lightning doesn't move closer and ruin the fun.
