Arizona State Sun Devils wide receiver Jordyn Tyson will not play Saturday against Houston after suffering a hamstring injury in the win over Texas Tech, coach Kenny Dillingham said Wednesday.
Dillingham declined to provide a timetable for Tyson’s return, saying the decision to sit him is about long-term protection.
“I’m trying to protect him from himself,” Dillingham said via Arizona Sports. “That dude’s a competitor. He was out there late in the game making plays, but this is something we’re doing to protect him because he’d play through anything.”
The Big 12’s leader with 57 receptions for 628 receiving yards and eight touchdowns grabbed at his right hamstring after making a cut in the third quarter of ASU’s 26–22 victory over the Red Raiders. Tyson briefly left the game but returned two plays later to haul in a two-yard touchdown and later made a key 33-yard catch on fourth down to set up the game-winning score.

Despite the injury, the projected first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft finished with ten receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Tyson missed the 2024 postseason with a collarbone injury and spent much of 2023 battling knee issues after transferring from Colorado. He entered 2025 healthy and on pace to challenge ASU single-season records for receptions and touchdowns.
