The Alabama Crimson Tide still have 10 days before they get underway in the College Football Playoff.

That didn't stop them from getting a massive win on Tuesday night.

This victory came in recruiting: Alabama landed a 6-foot-7, 4-star tight end who chose the Crimson Tide over the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The commitment comes from Colt Lumpris, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.

Lumpris is 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds from Tolland, Connecticut, and he attends The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey.

His other finalists were OSU, Ole Miss, Michigan and Tennessee.

Lumpris, in sharing the news, also shared Psalm 118:6, which reads:

"The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"

Lumpris took his official visit to Alabama in March.

"It felt like home," Lumpris told 247Sports. "... I can see myself contributing there."

When both Alabama and Ohio State are on a recruit, you know he's got potential to be a star.

That makes the Crimson Tide winning this battle a big one. Lumpris will go a long way from home to play for Alabama.

And with his potential, it looks like it might be worth it for all involved.
