The Vanderbilt Commodores athletic department is having itself a moment.

They've offered the No. 1 basketball recruit in the country, Tyran Stokes. The news was reported on Tuesday night by On3 Sports.
Stokes, in the Class of 2026, transferred for this final fall to Rainier Beach in Washington state, but he's originally from Louisville, Kentucky.
A month ago, Stokes announced his final three schools as Kentucky, Oregon and Kansas.
Vandy's basketball team, as of the time of the offer, is 9-0 and ranked No. 15 in the country.
That follows on the heels of the best season in the football program's history.
Something is brewing in Nashville, and the Vanderbilt staff is pitching Stokes on the idea that he can come be a part of it.
“I want to play for someone who really appreciates me outside of the court,” Stokes told Rivals in the past. “Someone who is going to talk with me just about how things are going and not just talk basketball all the time. I’m looking for a home, a place that I’m going to feel comfortable.”
Stokes was set to play his senior season at Notre Dame Prep in California, but after reports of controversy, he transferred out and ended up at the Seattle-area powerhouse in Rainier Beach.
Soon, he'll have to make a college decision. Vanderbilt wants a seat at the table.
