The New York Knicks lost in the Eastern Conference Finals and then decided to move on from head coach Tom Thibodeau.
Since then, the Knicks have requested to interview five current head coaches and have been denied for all of them so far.
Ime Udoka, Chris Finch, Billy Donovan, Quin Snyder, and Jason Kidd were all requested by the Knicks but denied by their current teams in a surprising turn of events.
Now, another name has circulated among the rumors: Arkansas coach John Calipari.
But, Calipari made his feelings crystal clear on the job on an episode of Golic and Golic, per On3's Thomas Goldkamp.
“I’ve been at Arkansas one year. People are totally committed and committed to me, personally,” Calipari said. “I’m coaching at Arkansas. But, they (the Knicks) have a great organization, they got a terrific team. But it’s not for everybody, now. You guys know, coaching the Knicks is like coaching — there’s some college teams, I would say, not for everybody, and that one isn’t for everybody. But you have everything you need to win, and you have New York City. So, someone’s going to get a hell of a job.”
Calipari went from Kentucky to Arkansas before the 2024-25 season and took Arkansas to the NCAA Tournament, even defeating Kansas and St. John's to advance to the Sweet 16.
So, while Calipari calls it a "hell of a job," the college legend doesn't have interest in making the move - at least not right now.
