The Kansas Jayhawks have a big game on tap Tuesday night.
They're taking part in the annual Champions Classic against the Duke Blue Devils.
It's an exciting matchup, as it pretty much always is, except this one will be lacking something.
The Kansas freshman phenom Darryn Peterson isn't playing.
He's expected to compete for the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft against a group that also includes Duke frosh Cameron Boozer. On this night, though, Boozer will be playing and Peterson won't be.
Why isn't Darryn Peterson playing tonight?
Darryn Peterson isn't playing on Tuesday night for Kansas against Duke due to injury.
College basketball insider Jeff Goodman reported that it's a hamstring injury.
"They thought it was cramps early on in the year, and it actually has been a hamstring issue that they figured out about a week or so ago, and it hasn’t gotten all the way better," Goodman said.
The Kansas Men's Basketball official social media account released a statement from head coach Bill Self on Tuesday afternoon:
"Darryn continues to make progress from his hamstring strain. He will be reevaluated at the end of the week."
The next game for Kansas is on Monday, Nov. 24 against Notre Dame, and then they turn right around to play Syracuse on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
