Darryn Peterson hasn't been able to escape injury in his freshman season with the Kansas Jayhawks.

The one-and-done prospect has been on and off the court for what has mostly been characterized as a hamstring issue.

Now, though, he has a new injury.

Kansas coach Bill Self revealed Thursday that Peterson has a sprained ankle and is getting treatment.

KU plays against Kansas State on Saturday.

Kansas has played 19 games this season. Peterson has appeared in 10.

He's averaging 27.2 minutes per game in those 10 games.

When on the floor, Peterson has been dynamic. He's shooting 49.3% from the floor, 42.0% from 3-point range and 82.0% from the foul line.

He's averaging 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.7 blocks per game.

He still may be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft even with these odd injury concerns.

But for Kansas, it'd certainly help their chances this season if Peterson can stay healthy.

Right now, he's dealing with another ailment, and the Jayhawks will have to keep finding their way with the phenomenal frosh.
