The Houston Cougars are riding a recruiting wave, but still couldn't break into the top end of ESPN's 2026 basketball recruiting class at No. 11.
Houston landed two top-30 commits in 7-foot center Arafan Diane and point guard Ikenna Alozie. Both are perfect fits for Kelvin Sampson's style of play
Diane is regarded as arguably the most physically dominant center in the country, bringing an immediate inside impact with size, hands and passing vision. While Alozie is a dynamic guard whose athleticism and defense fit will be gold for the Cougars.
With those additions, Houston positions itself for a deeper rotation and improved frontcourt presence. The next challenge will be integrating those freshmen into a roster already competing in a demanding conference.
If they arrive ready to contribute, the Cougars may not only rise in future class rankings but also on the court. As the early signing window closes, Houston’s 2026 class brings momentum and raises expectations for the program coming off a Final Four run.
