Former Duke standout Jalen Johnson was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week on Monday after powering the Atlanta Hawks to a 4-0 west coast road trip and extending the team’s winning streak to five games.

Johnson averaged 24.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 9.3 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting 60.3% from the field over the four-game stretch. His performance helped Atlanta sweep a Western Conference road trip of at least four games for the first time since the 1970-71 season.

The 6-foot-9 forward has been at the top of his game during the first month of the season. He capped the week with 25 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in Sunday’s 124-122 comeback win at Phoenix, where the Hawks erased a 22-point deficit in the final 10 minutes. It was Johnson’s third straight outing with at least 24 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Johnson’s best game came Nov. 13 in Salt Lake City, where he posted career-high 31 points, 18 rebounds, 14 assists and seven steals in a 132-122 win over Utah. He became the first player in since steals became an official stat in 1973 to record that combination in a single game.

For the season, Johnson is averaging career bests across the board, including 21.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.8 steals while shooting 58.7% from the field.
