Jazz's Jusuf Nurkic improbably just joined 'Pistol' Pete Maravich in insane NBA history image

We've always said Jusuf Nurkic reminds us a lot of "Pistol" Pete Maravich.

Wait, what?

Hopefully you were paying attention, because that sentence makes no sense. Until now.

The Utah Jazz center Nurkic has made history only ever done once before in this franchise's history, by Maravich.

The feat: Back-to-back triple-doubles.

Nurkic has put together these lines in his last two games:

  • 16 points, 18 rebounds, 10 assists
  • 17 points, 11 rebounds, 14 assists

The veteran center has long been a useful NBA player, but he's never done anything like this.

The NBA's official stats account shared the historic feat on X:

For the season, Nurkic is averaging a double-double of 11.1 points and 10.2 rebounds, so that aspect of his stats isn't crazy.

But even after the big assist games, his average there is 4.8 per game (and in his career, it's 2.6). So the added distributing is quite the change for Nurkic.

He's 31 years old, and yet he has now put together potentially the best consecutive games of his NBA career.

It's pretty cool, and apparently you can call it Maravich-esque.
