Saturday night, the San Antonio Spurs picked up a slim, 126-123 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in a star-studded matchup between Victor Wembanyama and Anthony Edwards.

Both stars put on a show, with Edwards setting a new career high in scoring with 55 points and Wemby nearly posting a near double-double with 39 points and nine rebounds.

After the game, many people were amazed by the performances of the two young phenoms, anticipating seeing them square off in the Western Conference for years to come.

In fact, Edwards expressed post-game that going toe-to-toe with Wembanyama is what brings out the best in him whenever he plays the Spurs, and, being the confident player he is, Edwards also declared his desire to dunk on the French superstar at some point in his career. Based on his response, Wemby appears to be ready for the challenge.

"I'll be up to the challenge... I'll try to block him more than he dunks on me," Wembanyama stated post-game. With Wemby's exceptional shot-blocking ability and Edwards' elite athleticism, both players will get their wish during their lengthy careers.

Both players will have to wait at least another season before either can check it off their list, unless the two teams face off in the postseason. If not, the rivalry is off to a great start, with many more great memories in store.

The Spurs' win on Saturday was the only win in the three-game series this season against the Timberwolves, after Minnesota won the second game with a 33-point fourth quarter, completing a 19-point comeback, and capped off by Edwards' game-winning runner.
