The Oklahoma City Thunder might have a kryptonite.
For the second time in 10 days, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs beat the Thunder -- this time, in blowout fashion.
The Spurs' 130-110 home win over the Thunder on Tuesday night saw Wembanyama and company announce themselves as contenders in the Western Conference. They led by as many as 21 points and are the only team to beat defending champions Oklahoma City twice this season.

Wembanyama again came off the bench, as he has every game since his return from a calf strain. Though his streak of games with at least one block came to an end, he scored 12 points with five rebounds and three assists in 23 minutes.
And after the game, he dispelled any notion that a rivalry exists between himself and Thunder big man Chet Holmgren, who scored just seven points on 3-of-10 shooting in 27 minutes.
"At least from a basketball standpoint, there’s no comparison," Wembanyama said postgame when asked about shutting down Holmgren.
I asked Victor Wembanyama (in French) whether he considers there to be any rivalry between him and Chet Holmgren, and he was pretty clear:

“No, I don’t think about that. At least from a basketball standpoint, there’s no comparison (between us)”.
The Spurs have shot to second in the West with a 22-7 record in Wembanyama's third NBA season. Though San Antonio remains 3.5 games back of Oklahoma City, the Spurs' seven-game winning streak is the league's longest at present.
It doesn't take much to imagine how good a Western Conference finals series between these two would be -- and whether Holmgren would have a response to Wembanyama's challenge.
