The San Antonio Spurs trade rumors are at an all-time high. After the midseason De’Aaron Fox trade, it became clear that the team is looking to make more win-now moves. Most of the Spurs rumors are linked to a potential Kevin Durant trade, but there is no guarantee they are landing the Phoenix Suns’ star. One Reddit user put together a crazy Spurs trade idea that, although intriguing, is probably too bold to happen.
The hypothetical Spurs trade proposal looks like this:
Spurs trade: Stephon Castle, 2025 number two overall pick
Atlanta Hawks trade: Dyson Daniels, 2025 number 13 overall pick, 2031 first-round pick
This would be a huge move if the Spurs did it. Dyson Daniels is obviously a dream fit on the Spurs; the defensive combination of him on the wing and Victor Wembanyama in the paint would be incredible.
The Spurs would also get an extra first-round draft pick.
Still, this is an insane price to pay for Dyson Daniels. Stephon Castle just won rookie of the year, and the number two overall pick in this year’s loaded draft is incredibly valuable.
Castle is already averaging more points per game as a rookie than Daniels has ever in his career. Castle has also shown that he can be a positive defender as well.

So, although the combination of Daniels and Wembanyama on defense is enticing, this Spurs trade rumor won’t come to fruition. The number two pick and Castle are two of the Spurs' most valuable trade chips; don’t expect them to give them up this easily.
