Victor Wembanyama took the path less traveled this offseason.
The San Antonio Spurs phenom spent 10 days at a Shaolin temple in Zhengzhou, China.
Why was he there?
"Those close to the French phenom are quickly learning about his thirst for pushing boundaries physically and mentally," ESPN's Michael C. Wright reported. "It's precisely why he chose to train in China, according to sources, who said the 21-year-old wanted to put his body through a different method of training to learn more about himself."
Wright adds that Wembanyama worked on both improving his mental focus and learned some kung fu moves that "taught him more about how to achieve optimal body positioning through a better range of movement, which could prove beneficial on the court."

Wembanyama has been officially cleared to return from deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder, so soon enough, he'll get to put all the lessons learned to good use.
He led the NBA in blocks in his second season despite playing in just 46 games.
Wemby is still just scratching the surface of his unfathomable potential, and he's doing everything he can to reach it.
