The Sacramento Kings need to make some major changes. They are looking like the Western Conference Chicago Bulls. That isn’t going to get them very far in a much more competitive Conference. That’s why some Kings trade rumors have the team shifting from their veteran core to a younger team with more potential.

One potential Kings trade that could help shift the franchise towards the future is one that gets rid of six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan.

The Brooklyn Nets-Kings trade proposal looks like this:

Nets Receive: DeMar DeRozan

Kings Receive: Terance Mann, Day’Ron Sharpe

At face value, this might not seem like a good trade for the Kings. DeRozan averaged 22.2 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.9 rebounds for the Kings last season. Meanwhile, Mann and Sharpe didn’t even put up those scoring numbers combined.

Still, this is the type of trade that the Kings need to consider. They are stuck in the middle, and this would help move them towards rebuilding. Mann is a solid NBA player who could potentially blossom given ample playing time. The Kings have a hole at point guard, and Mann only averages 22 minutes a game for his career. Could he thrive if given the keys to the Kings' offense?

Sharpe is also a nice young piece. He had career highs in points, rebounds, and assists last season. He’s still only 23 years old. The Kings need to consider taking risks on young players like Sharpe to shift their roster from high-floor, low-ceiling veterans to young players that could pop.

If a DeRozan trade is going to happen, it needs to be one of many trades by the Kings. Trading Domantas Sabonis and even Zach LaVine would be the logical next step. The Kings need to blow it up and this Kings trade idea could be the right start.
