Terence Davis had a decent chance to make the Sacramento Kings' roster.
And then they signed Russell Westbrook.
That was the end of that for Davis, who was waived this weekend, according to Sean Cunningham.
That was the move needed to reduce the Kings' roster to the maximum of 15 players. If Westbrook hadn't signed, they already would've been at that number and wouldn't have had to cut anyone.
Davis was waived by Sacramento in September, but then was brought back in with another chance to make the team.
He was a solid player for the Kings in 2022-23, when he averaged 6.7 points per game while shooting 36.6% from 3-point range.
Since then, Davis has barely seen any NBA action.

He tore his Achilles in December of 2023 while playing in the G League.
When he made it back last season, Davis played well for the Wisconsin Herd back in the G League, averaging 14.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He shot 41.5% from 3-point range.
The decision by the Kings to waive Davis has likely ticketed him for another season in the G League. If he stays with Sacramento's organization, that means he'll be suiting up for the Stockton Kings.
Davis is 28 years old and was once an All-Rookie selection for the Raptors, so he might still get another chance here or there, but for now, the signing of Russ meant this chance wasn't going to happen right now.
