Kings' Keegan Murray gets $140 million contract update image

The Sacramento Kings had a busy day on Thursday.

Not long after signing Russell Westbrook, they agreed to a hefty contract extension with talented forward Keegan Murray.

The deal, reported by ESPN's Shams Charania, is for five years and $140 million.

Charania then shared this incredible info:

"Murray is one of three players to record 500 3-pointers, 150 blocks and 150 steals over the last three seasons, along with Anthony Edwards and Derrick White, per ESPN Research. He becomes the sixth player to ink a rookie extension this year ahead of the Oct. 20 deadline."

Murray is a key piece for a Kings team that is otherwise on the older side.

The likes of Westbrook, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine don't have a ton of time left in the NBA.

Domantas Sabonis is more of a bridge between the eras.

And then you have Murray, who has gotten better each season since entering the league and is a prime example of the player type that is well-equipped to thrive in the modern NBA.

Murray is now being paid like a star, and it'll be his job to help lead the Kings to better heights.

Sacramento hasn't had a lot of reasons to be happy in the large majority of its recent basketball seasons. But Murray is a reason to smile for the Kings.
