The Sacramento Kings rumors seem to indicate that they will be aggressive this offseason. Since trading away their star point guard De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs last season, they are actively looking for his replacement. One recent Kings trade rumor has the team linked to Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland. We looked at this potential Garland-Kings trade by firing up the NBA trade machine and creating a possible proposal.

Our NBA trade machine Garland-Kings trade, looks like this:

Kings receive: Darius Garland

Cavaliers receive: DeMar DeRozan, Malik Monk, first-round pick

This trade could be exactly what the Kings are looking for. They get rid of DeRozan, who is on although still effective, but is on a gradual decline. More importantly, they get a two-time All-Star who is only 25 years old to lead them into their next phase.

Losing Monk and a first-round pick would hurt, but the price is worth it. Garland has a ton of upside and has already proved himself a star and a winner.

A core of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and Darius Garland would give the Kings one of the more potent offensive trios in the Western Conference.

Their defense would obviously be an issue. But the offensive potential is enticing.

One bonus of this Kings trade machine idea is that Hollinger’s analysis has this trade losing the Kings 12 more games next season. Garland is expected to miss at least the next four to five months after a recent toe surgery.

They could pick up a young star point guard for the long term and maybe take a year off and tank, trying to get their 2026 top-10 protected first-round pick.
