The Phoenix Suns have a lot to figure out this summer. Their Big 3 experiment with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal has not worked out as planned. Now, the Suns' trade rumors are picking up steam, as many around the league expect them to make some significant changes in the offseason. Some changes may not make a big splash, but could still impact the team. One offseason Suns’ rumor that will likely play out is the departure of veteran Serbian point guard, Vasilije Micić.
Micić, who had a highly successful EuroLeague career, has been trying to break his way into NBA rotations for a couple of seasons now. He started his career with the Charlotte Hornets in the 2023-24 season, averaging over 10 points per game before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, where his role decreased significantly.
He then found himself back on the Hornets to start last season, just to be traded to the Phoenix Suns in the Jusuf Nurkić trade. Micić never found his footing in Phoenix, which is why he is expected to become a free agent this offseason.
Right now, Micić has a $8.1 million team option for next season.
The Suns will likely decline this option, due to Micić’s lack of production in purple and orange. Micić only played in five games for the Suns after being traded there.
He neither took a shot nor scored a single point in a Suns uniform. Despite the Suns desperately needing another playmaker, he still couldn’t get playing time.

That’s why it is no surprise that EuroHoops is reporting that Real Madrid is targeting Micić for a comeback to the EuroLeague.
Judging by Micić's previous success in the EuroLeague and his lack of success in the NBA, expect Micić to be headed back overseas this summer.
