After returning from a hamstring injury earlier in the season, Jalen Green suddenly suffered another hamstring injury that has sidelined him since early November 2025. The injuries have limited his contributions in his first season with the Phoenix Suns, which is a shame because they are having a fantastic campaign.
During his two games with the Suns so far, he was quite decent. Even when he was ramping up from the hamstring injury, he was showing promising flashes. He and Devin Booker seem like a fantastic backcourt, while Green and Dillon Brooks are now longtime teammates, dating back to their Houston Rockets days.
Ott sees Green being a fixture of the Suns' rotation
Green is a positive acquisition for the Suns. He was the central piece of the trade with Houston for Kevin Durant, but Brooks' breakout is also a welcome sight for the Suns. Now, they are firmly in the race for a postseason spot.
Green's return is a welcome sight for Phoenix, as he will provide a huge offensive boost to Ott's system. At the same time, the rotation will be deeper, something that Phoenix has been dealing with. Apart from Booker, they have needed a player to put pressure on defenders as a three-level scorer. Green is the right fit for that role.
More: NBA insider makes bold claim about Suns coach Jordan Ott
Coach Ott is pleased to see Green progressing well in his recovery. He has been sidelined for a while, but he has been present for the Suns. The chemistry is good for the Suns, which could translate well when Green does return to the starting lineup soon.
"Jalen Green’s a really good player. He’s going to play as minutes, whatever minutes that is. He'll definitely be in the starting lineup as soon as he gets back and is ready to go. We gotta see exactly how that will turn out," Ott said ahead of Green's return.
It has been a frustrating season for Green because he was meant to showcase why he was the central piece in the trade for Durant. He has not gotten to show his ability outside of two limited games.
Now that he is progressing well and Ott has shown his belief in Green, the future is bright for the Suns. The Milwaukee Bucks have shown some interest in scooping him up, but it is unlikely because the Suns would want to see what they have before deciding on that kind of move.
