Despite dealing with plenty of injuries, the Phoenix Suns have impressed this season behind their star guard Devin Booker and first-year head coach Jordan Ott.
Although Jalen Green has missed 20 games, the Suns are still right in the middle of Western Conference playoff contention, ranked seventh in the West. That said, Phoenix trails San Antonio by 2 1/2 games for the No. 4 seed.
In his 11th season with the team, Devin Booker continues to perform. The four-time All-Star is averaging 25 points to go along with 6.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds.
He's also shown durability for Phoenix, appearing in over 82% of Suns' game since being drafted with no fewer than 53 appearances in a season.
His continued production throughout his career, including a fourth place finish in MVP voting, keeps reminding former Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy on what he missed out on. Van Gundy recently opened up about his decision to pass on Booker in the 2015 NBA Draft, a decision he still regrets to this day. “If I had drafted him, I might still be coaching. Every time Devin Booker has a great game, I kick myself — physically kick myself— just to make sure I feel that pain," said Van Gundy.
Van Gundy has worked as a commentator in recent years after his last head coaching job ended with the New Orleans Pelicans after one season.
On the other hand, Booker continues to perform and show his commitment to the city that drafted him over 10 years ago.
