It's a question seemingly every player in American professional sports is asked -- what was your "welcome to the league moment?"

Utah Jazz marquee rookie Ace Bailey has his answer already thanks to Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker.

The moment came five games into Bailey's NBA career when Utah took on Phoenix twice to close out October. Bailey recalled the game as a whole in his appearance on "The Young Man & the Three" podcast.

"Man, I've had plenty (moments)," Bailey said. "Will (Hardy) took me out in the first five minutes, I wasn't playing defense. I was like, 'Wow.' You don't play defense, you can't play at all.

"I was guarding D-Book. It was Phoenix. First game was D-Book, man. Me watching film, I'm thinking film was enough. I should've prepared the night before (and) the night before that. This is D-Book, so, me coming in not knowing the physicality of the game, it's different. I had to adjust to that."

It's unclear which of the two early matchups Bailey is referring to, but the Jazz took on the Suns twice in their first five games, once at home and once on the road.

The first matchup was in Utah, where Phoenix lost 138-134 in overtime and Booker finished with 34 points, five rebounds and 10 assists. The second matchup was in Phoenix, where the Suns came out with a 118-96 win and Booker posted 36 points, six rebounds and nine assists.

Bailey's rookie season has been a rollercoaster thus far and he hasn't quite been able to find his footing like his 2026 draft mates have, but he still oozes with potential.
