Tyrese Maxey is having another All-Star-caliber season for the Philadelphia 76ers.

As the Sixers faced the Dallas Mavericks, the pro team of Maxey’s hometown, the young star guard put together an impressive sequence that set social media on fire on Thursday.

Unfortunately for the Mavs, it came at the cost of one of Maxey’s former teammates.

Maxey Drops Caleb Martin

The young guard didn’t waste any time on this offensive possession. He saw a lane opening up, and Martin was the only one there to potentially stop him.

Going full throttle, Maxey didn’t have to do much to shake him off.

The Dallas crowd roared with shock as Maxey completed the play with an easy bucket. It’s safe to say the Sixers’ bench loved it as well.

At the time, Maxey was leading all Sixers scorers with 12 points. The Sixers were working on building a more comfortable lead against the Mavs.

As expected, Maxey is running the show for Philly on Thursday, as he’s been their go-to scorer this year. Leading up to Thursday’s game, Maxey is averaging a career-high 30.8 points per game, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 39 percent from three.

Along with his scoring, Maxey has produced 4.3 rebounds per game, along with 7.1 assists per game. His dominance this year has helped him become one of a few Eastern Conference players to earn over one million votes from NBA fans for the NBA All-Star first returns.

If Maxey can maintain his numbers throughout the voting process, he’ll be on his way to earning his second All-Star nod in three seasons.

When the Sixers’ star made it two years ago, he was posting averages of 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds. In addition to All-Star, Maxey was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player of the Year.
