Star Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey's career-best season has caught the attention of one of the greatest players in NBA history.
Maxey has earned the respect of Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, who complimented him on the "Mind the Game" podcast earlier this week.
"The kid, he has everything," James said. "He's one of the best point guards, obviously not (just) in the Eastern Conference, but in the NBA."
Maxey is averaging 31 points, 4.7 rebounds and seven assists this season. He's shooting 47.5% from the field, 40.5% from deep and 87.5% from the line. James believes Maxey uses his speed well and has a versatile skillset.
"A lot of guys know his speed, so they try to cut him off," he said. "His ability to have a tight handle, and snatch-back and hit those step back threes."

Maxey has scored 25+ points in six straight games, including a 36-point performance against the Knicks last Saturday. He had 28 points and six assists in a loss to the Nuggets on Monday. He scored a career-high 54 points earlier this season against the Bucks.
He's in his sixth NBA season after being taken No. 21 overall by Philadelphia in the 2020 NBA Draft. He had a breakout season in 2024, as he made his first All-Star game and won the league's Most Improved Player award. He's a strong candidate to make All-NBA for the first time in his career this season.
Maxey and the Sixers return to action on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards. Philadelphia (19-15) is fifth in the Eastern Conference.
